In the Midwest region, a range of actions to address volatile substance use (VSU) are being implemented for the town of Meekatharra. This is occurring through the Meekatharra Aboriginal Reference Group (MARG) working collaboratively with the Meekatharra Human Service Managers Group (MHSMG)supported at a regional level by the Midwest Gascoigne Regional Human Services Managers Group (MWGHSRMG).

In February 2015, the MARG identified alcohol and other drug (AOD) issues as a priority for the town of Meekatharra. In response, the MARG hosted an AOD workshop and invited the MWGHSRMG. It was agreed that the MARG would take ownership to address issues for the Aboriginal community of Meekatharra and drive the development and implementation of a Meekatharra Alcohol and Other Drug Management Plan (MAODMP).

In support, the MHSMG have included a range of actions in their Meekatharra Community Crime Prevention Plan to support the MAODMP.

For more information about either of the Plans, see the 'Contacts' section below.
