VSU
The Mental Health Commission offers a range of training and events to support the alcohol and other drugs sector, mental health and other human service providers to respond effectively to people experiencing mental health and/or alcohol and other drug-related harms. For more information, see Training for professionals.
The Alcohol and Other Drug training calendar includes a volatile substance use (VSU) information training workshop every semester - KA036 Sniffing, Huffing, And Chroming: Responding to Volatile Substance Use (VSU).
The workshop provides a comprehensive overview of:
• volatile substances and their methods of use
• the effects of VSU
• patterns and prevalence of VSU
• the risks and harms associated with VSU.
The training also includes information about best-practice strategies to respond to VSU and provides an opportunity to explore harm reduction strategies that can be implemented at an individual, agency and community level.
Upcoming VSU training
See the MHC training calendar below (it may take a few moments to load) to search for any VSU training events.
If there are no current events available for registration, please check back again soon or contact the Volatile Substances Program to find out more about whether we can tailor an event to suit the needs of your organisation.
